I think the upgrade was succesfull too, though old files of the 1.1.18 version might be there i don't know.
You are right about the portal standalone file contents being the index.php in the public_html folder. I'll go ahead with your suggestions and change the Forum folder name to forum and look for the line you mention, do i understand it right i should look in the index.php of my public_html folder, the portal one?

Since i was afraid i would delete the post etc. i didn't ask this, but i do have a reserve kopie of my forum in an other directory on the server, but it is from a long time ago, SMF version 1.1.12 and SP version 2.3.2. Would all the post still be there if i would copiƫd those forum files except the attachments, avatars folders and the settings.php to the Forum folder, or would that only make a bigger mess?

Jopie,

As far as I can tell from looking at your forum link your database is intact. My suggestion is to make a fresh copy of the current database and the 2 folders mentioned with their contents as of this moment. Imo you should be making frequent backups ie. at least once a week. If that is shared hosting, your host most likely keeps automatic daily backups & probably has at least the last 3-5 days on hand whereas you can always send them a ticket & ask for the most recent backup. Even so, I suggest making your own backups every week or so.  Do not use the old backups you are referring to, that would put your forum back to how it was long ago judging by the smf version you mentioned.  Your db is intact so do not mess with it, I only suggested this to be safe practice.

Yes, change the forum path variable in that file contained in your public_html folder which should allow it to redirect to the path of public_html/forum which is what you want.

Underdog,

Is this the line you meant in your previous post
Code: [Select]
// Should be the full path!
$forum_dir = dirname(__FILE__) . '/Forum';

Do i put there the whole www.thesorceressandcompany.com and servername in before /public_html/forum
From what i recall i installed the forum than trough cPanel and that helped me through the directions of path's i guess. So i don't know how to figure out what the complete path is.

You are right about the back-ups helas did i only make MySql back-ups, that's what i just now figured out. People like me shouldn't have this kind of sites, it went well for a long time, never knew how lucky i was, but my lack of knowledge is biting me in the behind now  ;)

Do you want to see the forum from here?:
thesorceressandcompany.com

Or is this ok?:
thesorceressandcompany.com/Forum

I'm perfectly happy with seeing the forum at thesorceressandcompany.com that's how it was before i added Simple Portal

Jopie,

Log into your forum and navigate to: Admin -> Server Settings -> Database and Paths
.. use the value of SMF Directory

It looks like your forum is healthy at thesorceressandcompany.com/forum/index.php

But you do not have simple portal installed.
So, of course, the portal standalone page which is at thesorceressandcompany.com/index.php has nothing to work with.

In order for that file to work, you will need to go to your forum, install simple portal, take a copy of the new standalone portal page in public_html as index.php, and set the path correctly, just like you had it before.

Good Luck!
