Picture Share Block
« on: January 18, 2009, 10:14:45 PM »
I'd like to use a block that has an input field with submit button to display a jpg under the input field.

The idea is to let members quickly share pictures without uploading them or using the chat box

it would need to check that the url is valid before displaying it.

is this do-able?

edit:  SMF 1.1.7  SP 2.1.1

desired features:

1. default display image
2. url validity check
3. auto share with all members if valid
4. url error display image if invalid
5. refresh button (if auto refresh is possible on submission, a reset to default image)
6. return to default display image after set period of time
7. a daily log/history for admin

Any thoughts?

Is this a bad idea?

Is this not worth putting effort into?

Is this the wrong place to ask about this?

After much searching I have managed to find 1 web page that has some example code that does some of these functions but it is dated 2003   http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-11277.html

My lack of coding knowledge/experience has kept me from getting them to function so far ... is one of the examples better suited for this function in a simpleportal block?

Unfortunately you can't do that with simple block codes. It requires work of a modification. I suggest you making a request in Mod Requests board in www.simplemachines.org.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...
