Problems with language pack
« on: March 15, 2016, 07:04:53 AM »
Language pack can be found from the download area, that is okay. But how to install the language pack? I tried to find instructions but found none.

Also it seems that there is no translation for finnish language. I would like to do that but what is the correct approach?

Thanks!

I assume you downloaded any language packs you wanted. All you have to do is install them like any 'Modification' for SMF (same way you installed Simple Portal). In SMF  Admin section go to the 'Package Manager' (easy to find in menu). From there go to 'Download Packages' and on that page you can upload the zip file. You can follow the instructions from there to install the language pack. SMF has its own language section so you might have to set up languages in that section too.

There are Mod options for users to switch languages (flags for drop down box) but that is all on the SMF site in Modifications. You need to ask there about that.

Translations
There is a person in charge of  translations. You can try this but I'm not sure if you have permission to access this board:
http://simpleportal.net/index.php?board=32.0

If you want to write a new language pack you could volunteer to do that as they have an editor on the site here to save periodical work.

Another easy way for yourself is download the English pack and change that to the desired language. If you download another language you can see how they do it by comparison.

Thanks for reply, Andy. :)

I decided to inject translations into copy of english language files. As you suggested. Works fine.

Oh good. If you have a new translation file (Finnish) it would be worth offering it here. Maybe you could attach the zip file to a reply.

Maybe Kryzen:

Or other support staff can deal with it.

The translation is partial, it covers only needs for my site. If I get it completed, I will share it.

That sounds like life, ' If I get it completed, I will share it'.

I know it takes time doing that stuff as I did it once. If it happens - thanks.
