Recent posts block max characters
« on: March 24, 2016, 07:27:24 PM »
Hi,
I'm running Sportal 2.3.6 and SMF 2.0.11. on http://www.leforgemots.org (french language), and having BBcode tags showing or/and xhtml validation errors because of some HTML tags not closed in recent posts blocks on portal main content.

I set up 150 characters max. to display from recent posts.

thanks for answers

Hi and welcome to SimplePortal.

I don't have that error in my code, so I moved it to Support.
Please attach /Sources/PortalBlocks.php.
What host are you on? I wonder if SP is installed correctly at all.

Regards

Note: I might not be able to reply soon all the times as I am busy, but I am confident some of my fellow teamies will help :)
Have you tried SimplePortal Documentation before asking? ;)

If it's concerning the recent posts/topics block then you can use the truncate plugin to stop malformed bbcodes when setting character limits.

My SMF is curently installed on PlanetHoster share hosting (LiteSpeed), but I encountred the same issue at DreamHost's last year. I may add that my index.php is in the www root folder while the forum's files remain into subdir.

So, that's a very little bug and I'd first have a try with the Chen-Zen trick, since, yes, it concerns the recent topics block. thanks to him.

Back yet.
I've been trying to solve my bad html in new posts block by installing the SP_TruncateBoardNews patch, but it gave worse results by modifying the character set, and after emptying cache and clean the tables, I finaly performed an uninstall of it.

So, I join the requested /Sources/PortalBlocks.php file.
Take time, I'm not in a hurry.

regards
