I finally got the Shop Mod working with 3.1, and in doing so realized something... I wish SMF had a points system mod of their own. I don't know why I associate something like this with SMF, but I think it would be great to be able to easily have blocks which displays our 'points', and blocks which we could 'sell' stuff in, blocks that our members could possibly 'sell' stuff in. Blocks which show who has the most, or recent transactions or... the list goes on and on.

In case you're not familiar with the style of mod I'm speaking of, it would be/is a mod which forum admin can assign a certain amount of credits to each user for: posts, replies, characters, words... And as members build up these credits they use them to 'pay' each other for services rendered, or to 'buy' features (i.e. name change, title change...).

I just feel as though with the great support SP has that a mod like this would just really set SP above and beyond the rest of the portal mods out there.

Just my $.02.

the only "points" system is the karma Kahne..

smf is just the forum, while the mods are what dresses it up  8)

I should also note that; as you can guess, we only code a single mod here and do not use all the mods in the SMF Mod Site. Although all SimplePortal Team members are specialized in their areas, it is certainly not easier for them to code block for a mod they have never used nor downloaded in their life. So, if you are looking for a block code related to a specific mod, the first thing you should do is to request it from the author of the other mod.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Well BlueDream, you've got Blocks for the Gallery/MGallery, so why not SMFShop? I agree with this idea strongly.

I can't see why would a portal mod need a point system. If we come to blocks, I didn't said we won't have. I just said, if you are making block requests, the first thing you should do is to ask from the author of other mod. That would make things easier for you.

Also, note that SMF Shop mod does not log every action happening in the shop, which means blocks you can create is quite limited.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Very true. I guess I look at SP and think it could be more of a total CMS system for SMF.

that would be well in theory, Kahne, but it sis afterall a mod.. for smf.. not a full blown cms.. perhaps someone later down the road might consider that but hey keep throwing up ideas, im sure something might just turn up..  ;D

There is a Shop block included in 2.2.
