Events block
« on: August 30, 2008, 04:02:43 PM »
I post this suggestion here too, so you don't foget it ;) :).
I sugested already, in the simplemachines forum, that it would be useful and nice to add a event's block in the portal's options. So that the calendar's events apear in that block.

I don't know, is there a posibility to make this with a php block? To have a code for calling the calendar event's in the portal in that block?

Great job guys whit the portal. Keep it up...and thanks.

Hopefully once the main parts of the SMF 2 Beta version and the 2.05 version  of Simple Portal are finished, we can think about adding some of these new block ideas. ;)

What about that events block? :)

I saw in the block section a php calendar block... But for me and for my users it would be more useful to have just a block showing the future event's.

Can this be done with just a php block? Or it needs more code changing and simple portal integration.

I think that this is not working on smf2.x.
Again... I'm having time problems...Normal Monday to Friday I'm at office from 6:00-16:00 (On my local time ;P).

Ok, tried it on one of my 1.1.6 sites. Got these errors showing in the log:

Code: [Select]
2: Invalid argument supplied for foreach()
File: /Themes/default/SPortal1-1.template.php (main sub template - eval?)
Line: 310

Code: [Select]
8: Undefined variable: bdays
File: /Themes/default/SPortal1-1.template.php (main sub template - eval?)
Line: 310

Well, at least they both are on the same line...LOL

pff ....thanks ...guys. :)

But please make it easier for unexperienced smf, php, etc users like me too.
:)
What do i have to do exactly? Because just creating a php block and copy-paste the codes is not working.

smf 1.1.6
SP 2.0.5

PS
:) To simplify the discussion:

I have a theater and show related forum and my users add shows and play's dates and locations as event's.

So I need no calendar block (there are already calendar block discussions in the block section), and I don't need today's birthdays. (if users go to the calendar to see the event's they will see who's birthday too)

Just a block showing  a list of (clikable) today and future event's added to the calendar (and atached or not to a topic) by users.

New one does not seem to work in SMF 2.0 Beta 4.
Get the following error:

Quote
Fatal error: Call to undefined function db_query() in /Sources/SPortal2.php(1609) : eval()'d code on line 23

New one does not seem to work in SMF 2.0 Beta 4.
Get the following error:

The block can only work in SMF 1.1.6 because it's not made compatible to the SMF 2.0. Beta 4 Version! (I only make it workable in Version 1.1.6, because the php block was created for this Versions.)

Calendar blocks are capable of this in 2.2.
