Earlier today I posted this thread regarding an install problem I was having with SP2.2 on my test site:

http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=1835.0

That issue was taken care of, but I'm referencing it, to be as inclusive as I can with my issues with SP2.2.

I've tested out SP2.2 on my test site all day, and it seems to work beautifully   -- I'll be ready to install on my live forum in a day or two. I only have 3 mods installed, and I've already found out that one of them can be removed completely, thanks to a feature now available on SP2.2.

Here is a list of my mods. Please note that also listed are all of the SMF upgrades:

1. SMF 1.0.12 / 1.1.4 / 2.0 b1.1 Update 1.0  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
2. SMF 1.0.14 / 1.1.6 Update 1.0  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
3. SMF 1.0.15 / 1.1.7 Update 1.0  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
4. Welcome Topic Mod 1.1   [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
5. SimplePortal 2.1.1   [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
6. SMF 1.0.13 / 1.1.5 / 2.0 b3.1 Update 1.0  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
7. SimplePortal Classic 2.0.5  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
8. SMF 1.0.11 / 1.1.3 Update 1.1  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
9. Custom Tab 1.2   [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
10. SMF 1.0.16 / 1.1.8 Update 1.0   [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
11. Order News 1.0.6

The mod I'll be totally removing will be the "Custom Tab" mod, since I only used this to add a tab for the "Who's Online" function. This helped members get to that area, when they were sitting on the portal, instead of making them go through the forum index to the "Who's Online" link. I'll no longer need this, thanks to the "User's Online" link in the "Who's Online" block with SP2.2

I have a few questions on this:

1. In order to make this a smooth transition, I plan to do a complete "Uninstall" and "Delete" on all three mods, and then re-install the newer versions of the two mods I'll be keeping. I also have two existing SP versions in there (2.0.5 and 2.1.1). I plan to do "Uninstall" and "Delete" on those as well, and do a 'clean' install of SP2.2

I plan to uninstall/delete the mods first, then the two versions of SP. Then I'll do the re-installs of the mods, and then the 'clean' install of SP2.2

Is that the most logical process to follow, in your opinion, for the mods and the two SP versions?

2. Do I need to worry about the numerous SMF updates in there? They've never presented a problem before now, but,...I thought I'd ask, just to be sure.

Thanks all!
Tal

The Numerous SMF updates shouldn't cause any issues. As long as you don't uninstall them.

I would recommend that you update each mod separately, in short follow this separate process for each mod.
1) Uninstall/Delete old version.
2) Install new version.
3) Make sure that everything is working before going onto the next mod.

Also make sure that you back up your database before you proceed with the updating, just in case.

Cool....sounds good!
Thanks for your help!

Sometimes I think I'm "over thinking" these things, but, I wanted to be sure.

Have a good weekend!
