Possible Bug.....
« on: April 19, 2009, 04:49:15 PM »
I'm working on a new site, the latest version SP and SMF 2......

In the center blocks, under the first one (the news slider) , you will see the block title AJAX Chat......it is being pulled from a post in the forum...

at the end you see  <...

The 3 dots are a link to the post....

What is that??? I have no coding in the post.....is it supposed to be a READ MORE link maybe???

None of the other blocks did that, but it may be because they didn't reach the  amount of characters limit set to display.....

Thanks All! Nice Job!!!!!!!

That is intended behavior for that particular block type, below is the popup admin help string for the 'Maximum Characters' parameter for the Board News Block (articles work in the same way).

Quote
If specified, posts exceeding this limit will be shortened and have an ellipsis (...), or a "Read More" link placed on the end.

Have a look at your article/topic named 'Search Engine Optimized', it also has an ellipsis at the end.

Thanks LHV!!!

I kind of thought so, its just the <  kind of looked like a missing closing tag or something....

Thanks!

I believe that the < symbol is part of the smiley code, I am not completely sure though. One of the issues with using a cut-off is that sometimes things can get cut off. That might be worth looking into, for one of the devs.

I don't know what happened....SMF 2 is very nice, but it does act funny at times......

I suddenly started getting getting profile errors... (??? ???)

I don't know why.....I then got admin errors........(??? ???)

I couldn't fix them......so I decided to lose it and go back to 1.1.8...

I'm bummed.....the site was just getting to look good.......

I don't think it had anything to do with SP......It might have started when I added the SMF Articles mod.....

I will start over....

Ms. Eliana TamerinIt should be painfully obvious by now that I don't respond to support PMs. Don't send me PMs for support. They will be ignored and deleted, post on the Support Boards to get support.

The site is gone, and I'm starting over....The problem I posted here was so minor, it was more from couriousity than anything else....

Simple Portal will be going back into the new site, but the  new site will be 1.1.8.... :applause:

SMF2 has some buggies to work out.... :(
