AJAX functions at "users logged iN", recent posts/topics ...

Hi there !

I think the topic says it all ... it would be perfect if the portal screens will update itself the necessary blocks.

Hi there !

Just a question, how is this request? To think of, possible, stupid, too difficult?

I would like it to have my site opened and just see if there are a new post or new people online ... without every time to need a reload.

Adding Ajax to every block is going to take a while. I personally like the idea, but I don't think its anywhere near the top of the priority list for the devs.

I'll bookmark this topic, I might get around to adding Ajax to one or two blocks at some point in the future. ;)

Just to note, this would consume a lot of bandwidth if someone is sitting on your portal page all day (or worse, if its on all pages, if someone has any part of your site open all day). So if you do this, you best have an excessive amount of bandwidth to waste or find some way to cut it off after a while.
Ms. Eliana TamerinIt should be painfully obvious by now that I don't respond to support PMs. Don't send me PMs for support. They will be ignored and deleted, post on the Support Boards to get support.

Hi there !

mmh, maybe as an option of the box, if it use ajax or not. And I think it will use less bandwith as an reload? Or not?

But bandwith is at my host provider or better at the active users on my site (about 20-30 different users per day on the site, but these users most time of the day) not the problem.

At now I have ajax at the chat box and I like this. The "Who´s online" and "Recent Posts" are my favorite candidates for ajax option.

Hi there !

@Brianna: Don´t know what you mean.

@Nathaniel: Already thought about it? Maybe as an option for SP 2.3? if it is programmed for one box I think it will work same on other boxes. I would use it for "Whos online" and "Recent posts/topics" boxes.

It is really not worth the effort and will make things harder for us and for you, users. So I don't think we will be adding something like this anytime soon.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Hi there !

Just as wish for 2.4 ... maybe here can be put the ajax code from the shoutbox as option to other boxes? It would not be that much more work since the code exists, or am i wrong?

From my experiences with the shoutbox alone; more JavaScript = more problem.

When I look into chatbox code, will I find the code for that function and can I copy/paste that in the box I want to?

You mean the AJAX functions? SMF has a few functions built-in you can use. Here is some information on it:
