./index.php - Test failed
« on: April 17, 2009, 04:53:32 PM »
Hello, all.  My name is Richie.  I'm an administrator over at Chex Quest Fan Forums.  We've been adding content that is not SMF related, and we're trying to find a way to integrate it nicely.  At the moment, we're integrating it with Site Integration Mod and Redirection Boards.  This is clogging up the main forum page, so we're looking for something new.  I tried TinyPortal, but as a working adult, I do not have enough time to mess with that (nor, does my community have the time to deal with me messing with it).  SimplePortal looks promising, but I can't get it to install with the Package Manager.  Quoted below is the error it spits at me.  Nothing else fails.

Quote
1.  Execute Modification  ./index.php  Test failed

Listed below is more information about my forum.  Once this is installed, you guys are going to be hearing more questions.  I'm a question asker.  8)  >:-D

This is most likely due to compatibility issues with the "Site Integration Mod" as I have seen that occur in the past.

If that is the only error that you are getting, then continue with the SimplePortal install, then post your 'index.php' file as an attachment, and I can apply the required edits.

Thanks for the reply!

I uninstalled Site Integration Mod, and SimplePortal works fine.  Is it possible to do custom pages in SimplePortal?  If it's not, then we can go back to using Site Integration.

It is not yet possible to do custom pages with SimplePortal, although that is one of the features that we may look at adding in the future.

What if I start a Custom HTML block and put it in the middle of the page, where the articles and/or last posts made would be?  It seems like you guys are doing that on this website, though I could be wrong.

I told you, I ask a lot of questions.   ;D

That should be possible for the main portal, but if you want to add new pages/actions, then you will have to add the new pages in a different way (there are now several mods that help to do this), as SimplePortal can't do that at the moment.

I believe that none of the incompatible edits made to the index.php file by the Site Integration Mod are crucial, they are just related to changing the frontpage, so you should be able to reinstall that mod. I can always fix any issues if you post your index.php file as an attachment.
