How do the wildcards work?
« on: April 14, 2009, 09:26:58 PM »
I tried playing around with the wildcards, but I couldn't figure them out exactly. For example, say I wanted block to appear on the page below...

mysite.com/index.php?action=page;sa=Extras

Would I use...

~/index.php?action=page;sa=Extras

or

~index.php?action=page;sa=Extras

or

~action=page;sa=Extras

or... ????

I couldn't seem to get it to work.

Any help is appreciated.

You would use it like:

~page

Or you might try:

~page|Extras
Ms. Eliana TamerinIt should be painfully obvious by now that I don't respond to support PMs. Don't send me PMs for support. They will be ignored and deleted, post on the Support Boards to get support.

I guess I'm slow. I tried it with:

~page;sa=Extras

And the block did not show up. I also tried:

~page|Extras

And nothing. So, I figured, maybe it's since I'm calling a custom page. So I tried...

~forum

and the block still did not show. Is there a setting somewhere in the config I need to click or anything?

You are adding a Custom Display option, right? Try this:

~sa|Extra
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

If you mean, adding this to the field for custom display option (per block), yes.

The above didn't seem to work either. Is this Cache dependant at all? Do I need to be clearing my site's cache for this change to appear?

No, it doesn't use cache. If you set the Custom Display Option as ~sa|Extra and your page url is index.php?action=page;sa=Extra it will show the block only on that page.

That's what I've tried, but it's not displaying for some reason. I'll keep playing with it.

I've tested and it worked for me. I may have a look at it for you if you can provide me an account with sp_moderate permissions just.
