Widgets-Gadgets
« on: May 25, 2009, 10:20:10 AM »
I maybe way out here, but I have to think its doable.

Widgets are getting bigger and bigger on the web. Twitter, etc, use it, I can name hundreds more....

My question is, do we have the capabilities with the RSS Block to host our own widget?

Using the RSS Block, can we somehow show the code for it that others can copy and paste on their site to show our content? Make the background customizable, borders, and add a Title is already there....

It would need to be some kind of javascript, correct?

It would be a great feature of the portal, and could be a  mod also....

I do know one thing, if it's doable, The SP crew can git it done.

Thanks!

There are several widgets on my portal.

All except the flagcounter are on custom HTML.

The flagcounter is on a bbc block

You misunderstood.  8)

Those widgets are hosted by someone else.

The RSS Block in SP pulls RSS, which can be used to make widgets.

I want to be able to host my own, pulling feeds from my own SP site, to feed to others...

It needs a way to make that block embedable by others....

Possible?
