The link Chris gave you is to the newly created Download center for SP. I just brought it live a few minutes ago, but it's been developed for a few days now.

I may be looking to write it as a (very) simple download script for SMF. But so far, SP has no plans to include a download center, as there is currently a mod that we can integrate with for SMF 1.1.5. It's easier to integrate with something already in existence than compete with it (and maintain the development).

The SMF Downloads Script is a good mod , but maybe you can add something really nice for SPortal
