Working with articles
« on: July 08, 2009, 04:21:33 AM »
Hi

I've got the latest version of SMF/SP and have done this for one month now and am taking it to the next level and am starting to use articles so;

I divided all my topics in the news category in to six different sub categories.

Then I made some colorful squares 17x17px to mark my different news categories and they look all cute in the articles at the frontpage (and in photoshop) but when putting them in to the news menu they turn up huge!

Suddenly it says in the browser - in the admin CP - that they are scaled in to 75x75 pxl. Why does this happen? Where can I possibly change this?

Second of all, when setting up a block with articles in it's standard setting there's a little square before the headline and then the headline and that's it.

When chosing to use the category picture not only do the pictures get huge like I just explained also the author shows. I'd like to use the setting of using the category picture (in my 17x17) size and NO author. Anyway around this?

Last but not least. Will I find my news divided in to my sic categories anywhere in the forum/portal and if so where? Or do I need to make subcategories by the boards to get this to work..

Also thank's for a good looking and very much usable mod :D

Sorry about the wait on this issue.

I can see and replicate the issue that you are talking about, its possible that it is intended to do that.

I have moved this topic to the Bugs board, where the devs will see it.

If the problem is only the images being resized in admin categories area, this is intentional. Most people use larger images as category icon, so they are resized to a possible width. However, only admins will see those images; so it should be okay as long as they displayed fine on the portal. Is that the case?
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Any updates totaltutankoll?

Nath, can you also provide details of what you could reproduce?

Sinan,
If you choose a small image for your category, then it will be stretched when it is displayed in the 'Category List' section of the admin area. (Reproduced for SMF 2 RC1.2 with SP 2.2.2)

There don't seem to be any issues with the image resizing on the portal itself.

Edit: See the screenshot below, that image shown is the normal SMF 'Help' image, which is being stretched.

To add up.

Smf Articles by Vbgamer45 and simple portal articles settings page link conflict.

If i hit articles on simple portal menu, it opens smf articles.

Which it should not.

That issue is a bit different, it has been repoted: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?issue=192.0

Its been marked as solved, probably solved in SP 2.3 RC1.
