SimplePortal 2.3 is a major update, so yes, you will definitely have to uninstall SP 2.2.2 and then install SP 2.3 (all data will be kept though).

While a release for SP 2.3 is relatively close, the devs only have limited time to work on it, and there are quite a few issues to resolve. We generally don't give out exact times for release dates, because the devs don't need unnecessary pressure, they need to take as much time as possible, to resolve all issues and make the public release as stable as possible. ;)

Is it possible to get the boxes on the left and the right, if I want to watch one of the pages I created? Or is it only possible to view the page itself? Could you include it?

Super job -  works great - not finding any issues - other then the one already mentioned about the shoutbox height not taking.

Question about the Shoutbox
Would there be a way to use a different smiley set then the one set as the forum's default.     A friend has asked me to set it up for her on her forum however she uses large smileys as the default and would like to use smaller versions of them for the shoutbox.

The smileys are based on three settings.

First the user setting. If a user has set their own smileys in their Look and Layout options (if that's enabled on the forum in question), those smileys will appear.

Second the theme setting. If a theme is set to a certain smiley set by default, those will appear if the user has not (or cannot) chosen a different set.

Third is the global setting.

So shoutbox-only settings? No. But users can set their own smileys if enabled and the shoutbox will use those.
Ms. Eliana TamerinIt should be painfully obvious by now that I don't respond to support PMs. Don't send me PMs for support. They will be ignored and deleted, post on the Support Boards to get support.

Okay that makes sense.  I got it all setup for her.  One other question.  Is there a way to increase the font size for the shoutbox?   I know you can use the bbcode tags when you type IN it but I mean change them overall.    I tried via Custom body style with no luck.

The refreshbutton did not work in IE - Firefox is perfect. Only at my website?

If your site is the one in your profile, refresh button works fine for me in IE. You mean the green icon at the top left of the shoutbox, right?
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Not sure where else to post this -

Suggestions:

1.   Would like the "There aren't any users online." removed from the Who's Online Block or an option to not use it.    Not really necessary when it says Users: 0   ?

2.   Ability to change font size for shouts in the shoutbox (overall)
Figured Ild try my hand at tweaking the php file for it -  got it larger but when refreshing it it goes back to the smaller font.   Im probably missing another place to do it but thought Ild mention an option for font size.

Other then that - super job and very easy to setup.

Yes, that Button.
ok, But that's funny. That is my Testboard - there it works.
On this board it does not: http://www.willhoff.de/board_1

Any idea? I thought about the countdown, but if I unable it, it still does not work.

THis is the error message I get:

simply sibyl:

1) This is a bit of a personal choice.

2) You can change it by editing portal.css. Also by Style Options of the block. Something like this for custom body style: font-size: 15pt;

Dirk:

I can reproduce the issue on your forum, but not mine. Do you have any other mods installed?

I have attached two different portal.js files. Can you trying each of them to see if they fix the issue? Remember that you need to make a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) to your browser when you change the js file.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Hi SiNaN

1.   Yep true - twas why I mentioned an option possibly.
When the final is done maybe I'll ask where I could do an edit to remove it.

2.  Ahh  I had edited the themes/default/portalshoutboxtemplate.php file - changed the font sizes there.  Also used style options for the block.  (works great for the others)  I tried doing it via the portal.css but had no luck with that.  I think it was .shoutbox_body I had added the font size to in portal.css

Editing portalshoutboxtemplate.php did  change the shout fonts but refresh via the shoutbox (green arrows) or posting new shout reverts back to the small font -  browser refresh reverts to the larger font - endless loop on that.

Just for the heck of it, I installed the 2.3rc on my active board.
If it crashes it is not the first time I have had to rebuild it,
it is live, althought I am still trying to get the shoutbox working.

The SimplePortal Team has been hard at work for the last several months developing the next version of SimplePortal, 2.3! We've heard your feedback, and included many requested features in our upcoming version.

Since we would like to have testing and feedback for our new version, in order to provide you the most stable product possible, we have decided to make our release candidate public. This means you can download the upcoming version now, test and report the bugs.

However, please note that: There will be no install/upgrade/uninstall support provided for/from RC1 version. Although this is a stable version, we strongly advise against using this package on your live forums. This package is only for testing purposes.

Your feedback is welcome here and in the related topics in Team Blogs board. Please post any bugs to the Bugs board.

You can download the package from Beta Packages category in Downloads area.

Thanks,
-The SimplePortal Team
