Forum Buttons for Pages
« on: September 03, 2009, 03:07:50 PM »
Getting pages to show up by making blocks and placing links to them is very time consuming.  Maybe a more straight forward approach would be to a button being placed in the menu bar when the page function is active like with Gallery.
Clicking on the Page button would open a page with a list of all available pages. I currently have 7 forums on the go and it would be way too much work creating pages and then blocks with links and so on every time a page was added. Any advantage to making this easier for forum hosts would be greatly appreciated. There are only so many hours in a day and I already consume 28 of them as it is   8)
Can you impliment this please????
Thanks,

Or add too an option to see your pages in menu block AND the place to being showed. Ex: 2 pages Test1 and Test2. For example: Home Test2 Forum Test2 Greetings from Spain^^

I would actually like to see the ability to have folders (categories) for pages.

Like if you have pages about Auto Mechanics and pages about Trees.
Have the ability in the pages to create folders to have those pages stored in. It would be much better that having 50 different pages of pages.  :P

Then maybe a way to have a block list the pages in a certain folder.

Also on this topic of pages maybe a way to attach a file to a page so people can download the information if they want.

BTW, I love the pages very nice job.

Hi there !

I agree to this feature request. Like the "Custom Action mod" there should be an option to integrate a page into the menu.

Posting to try making sure I'll remember this. I'll take a look to see how to get it done, when I'll have a little time, unless someone else does sooner.

I really would like to support this request. Having pages without a button to get you there is not user friendly.

You can always use something like the mod below (when it becomes more stable):
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=352408.0

Adding links dynamically to the menubar is something that will probably only happen in SMF2, because of the difficulty with coding it for SMF1.1. Although we are looking at other ways of linking to pages, such as a new navigation block type or even just an addition to the old navigation type. Increasing links to the pages is something that we are looking at for SP 2.4.
