Hide number versión [solved]
« on: September 15, 2009, 03:40:08 PM »
Hi,

I'm using version 2.0.5 of Portal Simple and for security reasons, I would remove or hide the version number in the copyright at the bottom of the forum (in SMF there is even a mod to do that).
How can I do without removing the copyright?

Thanks,  ;)

Note: Sorry for my poor english  :(

Security reasons of what? Removing the version number will do nothing security-wise, considering most attackers are bots that use auto-scripts on EVERY website regardless of version until one clicks.

Ok, that's true but as you say "most attackers" but not "all".

I prefer that nobody knows what version I have installed in order that they could not take advantage of any vulnerability.
On the other hand, I do not believe that this affect in any way Simple Portal.

Thank you anyhow for your opinion.  :)

I would strongly suggest that you upgrade to SimplePortal 2.3, that would be the best way to avoid security issues. ;)

If you really don't want to upgrade, then post your SPortal1-1.php file and I can remove the version number for you.
