Topic: 2.2.2 uninstall ...site is now dead

saw that 2.3 was out , went to install it and it reminded me to uninstall 2.2.2 first. I see you asking others if any errors on the uninstall ...I'm a bonehead ...don't know. Where do I go from here?

Hi Mr_Slugo,

got the same problem yesterday. Uninstalled the SP Version 2.2.2 => Forum dead, just got empty pages 

My solution:

SMF creates a directory called backup in your packages folder. Everytime you modify a package (install/uninstall) a backup is stored there.
In my case it was called:
 ..../Packages/backups/2009-09-17_before_SimplePortal_2.tar.gz

So i downloaded the file to my local computer, unpacked it and restored the files to my webserver (overwrite all existing files).

After that my forum was back (with SP Version 2.2.2 still active).

Now iam waiting for any ideas, of what went wrong  , before starting a new try .

I downloaded SMF.. unzipped , took out settings.php and install.php then pushed everything else up overwriting files....at that point I uninstalled shoutbox ( i think that might have caused this) and then the rest of 2.2.2 ... installed 2.3 and it's all good now
