SMF 2.0 RC2 Released to Charters!
« on: October 03, 2009, 07:09:24 PM »
Those of us at SimplePortal would like to gleefully point out that SMF has released its second Release Candidate of version 2.0 to its Charter Members.

See the topic at SimpleMachines.org for more information.

Due to the changes in RC2, however, this means that all versions of SimplePortal will not install on SMF 2.0 RC2. Our Development Team is working on a patch, combined with some other bugfixes, that should be released in the near future.

For the time being, users should not upgrade to SMF 2.0 RC2 if they wish to continue to use SimplePortal. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will continue to work on a patch to resolve the issue.
Ms. Eliana TamerinIt should be painfully obvious by now that I don't respond to support PMs. Don't send me PMs for support. They will be ignored and deleted, post on the Support Boards to get support.

Should be fairly soon, Charter Members always get a few days/weeks of their own just to be special. They do donate money, after all.

At the moment, its looking like days (although no promises there ;)). Mostly because the next version will fix all bugs from 2.3 as well as add support for SMF 2 RC2.

SP 2.3 should work with SMF 2 RC2 if you extract the package, make the following changes, compress the package, then upload it to your site, I haven't tested it throughly though.

package-info.xml file:
Code: ("Find and remove") [Select]
<database>install2.php</database>
Code: ("Find all occurances") [Select]
for="2.0 - 2.0.99"
Code: ("Change to this code") [Select]
for="2 RC2, 2.0 - 2.0.99"
Also, these edits will only work if you are upgrading from SP 2.3 (you must have had SP 2.3 installed beforehand).

Although I recommend that you wait for the next bugfix release. ;)

Hi there !

Both sounds well. A new installer who checks the compatibility and makes the forum "upgradeable" to RC2 would be nice. Testing now also ...
I will decide how much time I have for such projects and how fast other mods I use will be rewritten for RC2.

Other question: At which time will this forum change?

Not sure, we will wait for the release of 2.3.1.

There aren't that many bugs, but more testing of the compatibility is required. Ie. there are probably more bugs there that we haven't found yet. ;)

An update on this:
We have finalized support for RC2 and curve, it is just a matter of us testing it (as well as the other 20 bugs fixed in 2.3.1) and then releasing it. This should happen sometime early on the weekend, but no promises. ;)

If you edit the package with the edits described in the post below then it will install:
http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=3536.msg22547#msg22547

There are a few other issues that needed fixing for curve support, but they aren't that annoying (unless you want to edit BBC pages/blocks).

The only way we can do that is SMF released RC2 to Charter Members and SMF Friends. So we're working with a legal copy, not something we snuck out from underneath.

I think I am misunderstood.

I didnt mean you are working on an illegal copy.  I am well aware that you and SP Team are among those who have tight relations n with SMF and I am sure you can have the copies well before they are released public.

What I wanted to say was you could get SP  ready for RC2 between that little time (time between CM release and Public release ) and my compliment was to that..
