Hi,

How do i upgrade my current version of SP?

Iam using 2.3 at the moment and would love to upgrade?

A few questions....

How do i upgrade without loosing all my blocks etc etc ive created?, Or will thease be lost?

And is there a package to upgrade, or do i need to uninstall old version via packages then install new version?, and will all data be lost?

Hope somone can help me do this, thanks

Paul

Before installing the new version the current one must be uninstalled.

No information will be lost.
Daily backups mean less headaches

The files which you manually installed will have to be manually uninstalled.

Honestly if I were you, I'd just install a fresh copy of SMF and then install SP to it as well as your other mods through the Package Manager.

paul2009

Ive installed all the mods manually and dont want to loose all that work, So iam going to leave it and keep this SP i have now, If anyones able to manually uninstall the mod for me i could offer a donation to them for there help?

Thanks,
Paul

Which older version of SimplePortal do you have installed? If its 2.3 then that should be extremely easy.

If you are running SMF2 RC1.2 and SP 2.3, then only your index.php and sources/Subs.php files would need to be manually edited. Although you would have to also upload all the main SimplePortal files as well, to override the old ones.

If that is the case, I would be happy to help if you can attach your index.php and sources/Subs.php files to your next post.

Iam using SMF 2.0 RC1.2

SimplePortal 2.3

If you can exaplin what is needed to be done that would be excellent!, Or if i give you FTP details would it be possible for you to upload the files once you have edited them and then let me know if iam needed to install via packages ( new version )

Ive attachted files below has requested, thanks again for you very kind help  :D

Nathaniel

Upgraded those two files.

These are the files/folders that you will need to copy from the SimplePortal 2.3.1 package to your forum's directory. Overwrite any old files with the same name.

SimplePortal package file/folder -> location to go in forum.
languages/* -> /Themes/default/languages/*
smf2 -> /   (main forum directory)
portal.js -> /Themes/default/scripts/portal.js
portal.css -> /Themes/default/css/portal.css
portal_rtl.css -> /Themes/default/css/portal_rtl.css
PortalStandalone.php -> / (main forum directory)

(* means put all files from that folder into the relevant folder)

Once you have copied those files, and uploaded the attached files, the upgrade process should be complete. :)

this hasnt worked :(

I replaced all files has asked and re uploaded index.php and subs.php

And when i try access a page i got this error "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ',', expecting ')' in /home/reptiles/public_html/Sources/Subs.php on line 4042"

When i use the normal subs.php i attachted to first post site loads but iam unable to do anything ( like borwse whos online ) it just directs back to homepage?

But once i replace index.php and subs.php with old files it works?

Could you possibly take a look at this via FTP?

Paul

Nathaniel

Looks like I made an error when I edited the Subs.php file. Try the attached file.

Ok ive uploaded subs.php and everything worked fine, but then when i upload the index.php you attachted.

When i click admin or anything iam being taken back to main page? ( forum home )

And then when i replace with the new subs.php you added above and my old index.php witch i attachted to post near top it seems to work fine?

Hope you can help, Im not sure if its needed but my portal seems to have changed to 2.3.1?

Regards,
Paul

Chas

I was running SP2.3 on SMF 1.1.10 and just ran the SP2.3.1 installer and it updated everything fine, no need for any manual edits and I have 29 mods and three custom themes installed. The themses needed manual editing to add the Forum button but otherwise all went well.

Hope this helps someone. :)

paul2009

Unfortunatly i cannot do this has stated in my posts.

My packages was not working when i installed the last SP.

But i got it fixed to install the new SP, So if you could fix the index.php has this one doesnt seem to work?

But the subs.php is fine..... Hope you can help fix this.

Thanks,
Paul

Nathaniel
