Why is it that when you make a page from the pages menu, it does not put a new page on the front portal where it says PAGES: [1]. Why does it say it at all if you can

Nathaniel

That 'Pages [1]' text on the portal is not related to the SimplePortal Pages feature.

The 'Pages [1]' text on the portal refers to the list of articles on your portal, or to the topics listed by a Board News Block. The 'Page [1]' text acts as an index for the articles/topics
list, if you have a look at the template in this topic for example, you will notice two occurances of "Pages: [1]", the index on the portal acts in the same way as that index.

For example, if you have limited the number of articles/topics per page to 5, then the first 'page' with that index will show the first 5 articles/topics, the second page will show the next 5 articles/topics, etc.

If you don't want to show that text, because you don't have any Articles, or you don't want to show a Board News Block, then disable the Articles feature and remove any Board News Blocks that you have.

Please note that SimplePortal pages are not shown on the portal. They are separate to the portal. There is a link to the proper location in the admin page list (click on the page title). If you want to add public links, then you will either need to add a button to your forum menu or put a link into a Custom PHP/HTML/BBC block.
