Error after installation
« on: November 08, 2009, 08:14:55 AM »
hello,

today, I tried to install SP 2.3.1 by hand, cuz my package manager didnt work until today.
I did all replacement the parser said and uploaded the files, but when I try to get into the forum, there is this failure message: Kann das 'Portal' Template nicht laden.

I dont know the exact english translation, but I think "Cant load the 'Portal' template" fits.

so I dont know what to do now, has anybody a hint?

thanks in advance.

Make sure that the '/Themes/default/Portal.template.php' file exists.
Also, is the error message more descriptive than that? Which file/line is the error occuring in?
Is it a fatal error? Can you view any parts of your forum? If so, in which sections of your forum is the error occuring?

k, found the errors - there were two:

the copying failed - the template files were in the false direcctory. and I didnt run the install.php  ;D

but when I run it now, I get another error - firefox says, the file redirects and the request will never be finished.

Hmm, does commenting out the code below help?

Code: ("Comment out/remove (Sources/Subs-Portal.php)") [Select]
if (WIRELESS || ($standalone && (isset($_REQUEST['wap']) || isset($_REQUEST['wap2']) || isset($_REQUEST['imode']))) || !empty($settings['disable_sp']) || empty($modSettings['sp_portal_mode']) || (!empty($maintenance) && !allowedTo('admin_forum')) || isset($_GET['debug']) || (empty($modSettings['allow_guestAccess']) && $context['user']['is_guest']))
{
$context['disable_sp'] = true;
if ($standalone)
{
$get_string = '';
foreach ($_GET as $get_var => $get_value)
$get_string .= $get_var . (!empty($get_value) ? '=' . $get_value : '') . ';';
redirectExit(substr($get_string, 0, -1));
}
return;
}

there happend something - but there are still problems
the installation seems to be incomplete.

I will try to reinstall - then we will see what happens. perhaps I missed some code details during install.

From looking at your forum, it seems to be working okay at the moment.

Any updates on this issue? Did a reinstall fix any problems?

now I uninstalled the portal und upgraded to the 2.0RC - im going to try it again, hoping it will work now.
But after having run the install.php there seemed to be some failures - no message, but the template wasnt complete. the tables were cut off.

But dont panic, I going to try the installation again, the I will report.
Thanks for your help

havent done the install due the lack of time. I will try to find some moments this weekend, otherwise it will happen in the next year, cuz the cristmasmarket starts next week. the means I have to work 12 hours a day outwards an have to do the office stuff.

as soon as there is some progress, I will let you now, I promise.

Well, its most likely an issue with your edit to a major file like index.php or Sources/Subs.php. Can you access your server error logs, they may be more descriptive, a blank screen doesn't tell me where the error actually is. ;)

unfortunately, I have no access to the error logs.
I changed the index, but the mistake does not seem to have been in there
I think I have to do the install step by step again.

edit: I uploaded the unchanged files, but the site still stays blank - may there be an error during the process the install.php run?

Ah, that would indeed cause such an issue to occur.

Glad that its working now, Marked as solved.

but there is still one problem left:

when I choose integrated, the portal doesnt appear. just the fontpage mode works. is there something that has to be changed?

You can place blocks on the forum with either the Portal or Integration mods, the only difference between the two is the portal page. The portal page will only be shown if you use the Portal mode.
