how to add custom buttons to the menu bar ?
« on: March 14, 2010, 11:26:52 AM »
hey, yes i searched and cant find what i want, I'm new in this things and have no idea how to do what i want. my programming knowledge is minimal.
I want to add a few buttons to my menu bar with a link to subdirectories of the site and others with an external link (ex. geracaotuga.net), and in one button i want the function to show a page in the SP style showing a text pool, exactly like the "About" button in this site.
so... how can i do that ?

Thanks in advance and sorry for bad english

Regards  :nervous-happy:

it really depends on the theme you are using but  if you're using 1.1.11 and the default (core)  theme there's a nice tut over here: How do you add custom tabs to the Core (default) theme menu?

if you're using a custom theme, please attach your theme's index.template.php file   and tell me the name of the links and its urls for each one

I really really would prefer if you attach the file here, as the link you posted shows me the file in html, not good ;) , not so sure why you cannot attach files here, maybe permissions,  please  zip the file and then upload the zip again to the server

ok,  I didn't see it before, but actually are using 2.0 RC3   therĂ©s actually a nice tut in smf:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=261880.0

is a lot more simple than 1.1.x version and will work on all your themes ;)

Hi i would like to add a menu button to my forum as well, i am using the theme Iextreme6, here is a link where i downloaded the theme from. http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=1078

I want the button to say "Killboard" without the ""'s of course, and the page it links to should be, http://www.eula.us/killboard/index.html

If you could help me out that would be great, and if your making a button for me how do i add it to the site, or are you just going to change the theme and give me the .zip file to download and install on smf? thanks again if you can help, my email is howlinghighguy at hotmail.com

As its not SimplePortal related support, I would suggest that you ask over at the support topic for that theme: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=266912.0
