Topic: Blocks not showing up on forums [RESOLVED]

Actually I have 2 issues. The first is the title.  Regardless what I do, I can't seem to get blocks to show up on the forum page.

I started with a default install of SMF and SimplePortal, both current version downloaded today (SMF 2.0RC3; SP 2.3.2).  I left the SMF theme as the default it installs with.  I've checked and unchecked the Display Blocks in Forum checkbox, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

How do I get blocks to show up on the forum pages?


Edit: Skip the 2nd question. I found where you turn them on based on the content you want to see them for.  It would be nice to have a 'forum + portal' option without having to do custom settings.


Second question...  I'm trying to create a block that's a menu for additional pages in the web site.  I create the pages with SimplePortal pages.  I created custom BBCode blocks and used the URL BBCode to create links to the pages.  But they open in new browser tabs by default.  Should I use standard HTML blocks for this? Or is there a better way?

Actually... skip 'em both. Sigh. I always find my own solution after monkeying with stuff for a while, posting for help, then monkeying a bit more.
