gallery2 random image block
« on: October 21, 2008, 09:09:15 PM »
I previously had SMF media gallery installed on my site but switched to gallery2 because it is what I had on my old site.  [SiNaN] was very helpful with the code for the random image code for Media gallery but I was wondering if anyone knows the code for the random image for gallery2? Can [SiNaN] come through again......Please!!!

Thanks in advance,
Chris

After some extensive research I found some sites telling you how to do it.  Here are the steps:

1) Go to your gallery2 Admin section and click on Plugins.  Locate and install the image block plugin.  Configure it the way you want.

2) Add the following code to a custom php block in SimplePortal

Code: [Select]
@readfile('http://www.yoursite.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=imageblock.External&g2_blocks=randomImage&g2_show=title');
Just make sure you change the url from yoursite to what it should be.

Now if anyone can tell me how to get this centered in the block I will be good to go.

I've already made this block? o.o;

It should be in SP by default. Click SMF Gallery?

That works for the SMF gallery, and great I might add.  This one works for the gallery located Here.

Oh, Oldiesmann's gallery thing.

Best ask Oldiesmann for more assistance on that.

This is the code I always use...

Code: [Select]
global $scripturl, $modSettings, $user_info, $ID_MEMBER;

require_once($modSettings['galleryPath'].'/embed.php');
$ret = GalleryEmbed::init(array('fullInit' => true, 'embedUri' => $scripturl.'?action=gallery', 'g2Uri' => $modSettings['galleryUrl'].'/', 'activeUserId' => ($user_info['is_guest'] || !$user_info['is_gallery_user']) ? '' : $ID_MEMBER));
 if ($ret) {
     print 'GalleryEmbed::init failed, here is the error message: ' . $ret->getAsHtml();
     exit;
 }
 /*
  * See "Site admin" -> "image block" for all available options. the parameters are the same
  * as for the external imageblock
  */
$blockData = array('blocks' => 'randomImage',
                                'maxSize' => '120',
                                'show' => 'title');

list ($ret, $bodyHtml, $headHtml) = GalleryEmbed::getImageBlock($blockData);
 if ($ret) {
     print 'GalleryEmbed::getImageBlock failed, here is the error message: ' . $ret->getAsHtml();
 }
 /* $bodyHtml contains the image block. print it somewhere on your website */
echo '<center>' . $bodyHtml . '</center>';

Note that this will only work if you have the SMF+G2 bridge installed (see http://galleryproject.oldiesmann.us if you don't).

Thanks Oldiesman!!!  I do not have the bridge installed yet but will soon.  If for any reason someone does not want to add the bridge the code I supplied works.

On another note does anyone have some php skills that would make the image centered by adding something to this code

Code: [Select]
@readfile('http://www.yoursite.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=imageblock.External&g2_blocks=randomImage&g2_show=title');
