Shout sound
« on: August 20, 2010, 09:55:28 AM »
The option to add a sound to the shoutbox when ever a shout is made. Like the facebook popping sound.

It will be nice to have this feature, but I don't see any use of it.

Yes I agree with this. It was only mentioned yesteday on my site.

The reason it would be helpfull is if you were doing something else on another web page and someone posted a message you would know it's happened.

I think sound is part of a few message boards I know of.

I have a friend that has sound on his shout box and it is really nice and handy. Like it was said. When you are doing some thing else it lets you know there is a shout. I would love to see it added

I don't see any point myself.

A, I don't have my pc sound on.

B, The shoutbox can be added to all the forum pages if required.

(As admin I have it in the admin area too).

You can add a custom bbcode for it and adjust the SP file to allow people to use it.
I have this for my shoutbox with 10 sounds (depicted by number inside the bbc) but currently do not display the bbc for it.
I use it for my announcements.

Just an idea for people with regard to shout sounds.
Also might be better to adjust the necessary js to only allow one sound at a time & only within ie. 10 secs of each other..
I should make a plugin for this.

Some say they don't see a need for it. Some of us members do. I though that was what this board was for. To help members get what they want. If the admin. doesn't want to do this. Please let me know and I will go else where for help. Thank you

Just because some of us don't see a need for this doesn't mean it won't be done.

 :)

There may be things on my portal which you wouldn't use.
