problems with installing 11. /Sources/Recent.php
« on: September 10, 2010, 04:55:14 PM »
Hi all,

I am very eager to install the portal as i think it is just ideal for my forum.

The problem is that i get an error while installing (at a polish version of smf 1.1.11, no portal
installed yet):

11.   Wykonaj modyfikację (add mod)   ./Sources/Recent.php   Porażka (failed)

All other files extract normally, but it stopped after this message at file 15.

I have installed a few other mods, nothing special. Can somebody help me?

Another thing, I have downloaded the mod and the polish language pack, will it all install
automatically or will I have to do manual changes? I am basically able to do so, but I am
not a real hacker, so i would prefer to have it done automatically ...

Thanx a lot for help and a very big thank you for the developer of this mod. It seems to be
a great thing.

Marek.

It would seem you have some other mod installed that also edits that file.
To complete the installation, you have to be prepared to to some manual install steps.

First, get familiar with the install steps for that file.  Use the manual install parser at simplemachines.org.

Your Recent.php will be different in some way, making it impossible for the Package Manager to find the right place in the file to add or replace something.

Once you figure out what that spot is and how you will make it right, you are ready.

1) Do the install, even though it fails on one file
2) Check every place in the file that failed, to make sure all the SimplePortal stuff got added correctly.

This is an important skill for anyone using an SMF forum, because "mod collisions" is a very common problem.

Good Luck!
