Unable to Load "main_above"
« on: November 18, 2010, 02:54:51 PM »
Hello

I just upgrade my forum to 2.0 RC4 and also simpleportal to 2.3.3 , I uninstalled simpleportal before doing the upgrade.

Now when I install it , it install's fine with no errors , However when you click the "Home" tab it displays a white page with "Cannot load "main_above" template"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- Alan

I'm not sure why it cannot load the template.

Can you go to ?action=admin;area=serversettings
and uncheck Disable evaluation of templates ?

Or is it having a problem loading main_above on that page, too.?

It sounds like there is some problem with index.template.php

Can you check against the manual install instructions?

It's only on the index page the main_above template cannot load. I have disabled evaluation of templates in the admin settings however the problem is still happening.

Also there is no problem with any of the theme files that I can see.

It has been a while since i've used SMF in detail but from what I remember was the main_above template in index.template.php not changed to html_above?

I was hoping that "disable template evaluation" would get you some more information.

template_main_above is found in Themes.php
But -- which file is calling the function?

Are there any errors on the error log?

Apparently main_above is not found in themes.php , or in any file in the sources or theme directory. I cross searched all the files in those directorys and no code referencing main_above or anything like it was found.

The only error in the log is the same one displayed when you visit the site "Unable to load the 'main_above' template"

template_main_above is in Themes.php in 2.0RC3, but seems to have been removed in 2.0RC4.

That said -- I don't think any SimplePortal files call template_main_above.

So I did a quick search through all the SimplePortal and SMF files (after install of SimplePortal 2.3.3), and could find no instances of "main_above" anywhere.

Can you find "main_above" in any of your Sources or Templates files?

Are you using a custom theme? Does this issue occur with the default SMF theme?

In order to figure this out, I think you need to search for "main_above" in
* Every php file
* Every custom php block
* Every php page

It must be there someplace!
