Problem Installing SP 2.3.3
« on: December 18, 2010, 03:49:31 PM »
Hi,

I have been running SP on SMF 2.0 RC3 for about a year now with no issues using previous versions of SP.  I recently upgraded my SMF to 2.0 RC4 and I knew I had to download and upgraded version of SP.

After trying to install SP 2.3.3 I received an error message that my dBase files needed to be upgraded which I did successfully and when I tried to install the SP 2.3.3 I got the following error message:

Duplicate column name 'member_name'
File: /xxxxx/xxxxxxxx/public_html/forum/Packages/temp/install2.php
Line: 500

I have no idea how to fix this error.  If someone can help me I would be very appreciative.

Thanks

Nobody has any ideas why this happened or how to resolve it?

Run the upgrade, but skip install2.php.

I don't know why the install is having this problem.  You aren't the first to see something like this.

Used this to skip the install2.php

Quote
Easiest solution to that issue is to open up SimplePortal_2.3.2.zip and remove these lines of code from package-info.xml:

Code: [Select]
      <!-- Install scripts -->
      <database>install2.php</database>
To do that either extract the files to your computer, edit that one and recreate the archive, or edit it directly from 7zip (right-click -> Edit, make the changes and hit CTRL+S, then click yes when prompted to update the archive)

Thanks for your help!

Merry Christmas

Alba66peach -- you can also avoid running install2.php, if you already have SimplePortal 2.3.2 on your database.

Murphy -- this problem seems to have been marked solved.  Are you still having the problem?
If you were going from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3, and did NOT uninstall the SimplePortal stuff from your database beforehand, this should have gone fine.  Can you provide more information?  Did you uninstall the package AND its data?

Hi Angelina,

No, I didn't uninstall SP 2.3.2.  That is where the confusion came in - when I did the upgrade for SMF 2.0 RC4 SP 2.3.2 was just gone but two other mods I had also installed where there.  Usually when you do an upgrade all you have to do is re-activate the mods.

When you replace the files, the old mods disappear from the code. But not from the database, of course.
So, to go from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3, the install2.php step should not be necessary.
Everything should work fine if you eliminate the install2.php step from the Package Installation.

I do not know why this step is a problem for so many people with the 2.0RC4 install. Strangely, the problem does not affect everyone.
