Blocks speak! Do you have an interest in getting more blocks - or even making your own? The Blocks Board is for you!

406 Not Acceptable
« on: September 14, 2008, 04:02:03 PM »
Error resulted: 406

Message:
Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /index.php could not be found on this server.

smf v1.1.6
simpleportal v2.0.4
No other mods or themes installed

This happens whenever I try to modify or delete a category, html block, and I suspect anything else similar.
I have spent hours researching this error and have tried using .htaccess to turn off any sort of mod_security, which I do not believe exists in the first place. The server api runs with CGI (suphp) and I have options to use php.ini files but nothing in my phpinfo tells me that mod_security is the case: lasvegasjournals.com/phpinfo.php
As you can see, session.use_trans_sid is "0" which is older suggested fix that seems not to apply either.
I can pm someone the admin login info if you'd like to see for yourself. Thanks in advance for any help.

This sounds more like an issue that the official SMF site can help you better with.

Ms. Eliana TamerinIt should be painfully obvious by now that I don't respond to support PMs. Don't send me PMs for support. They will be ignored and deleted, post on the Support Boards to get support.

Same here. It is not allowing me to delete a block. When I hit the "red cross" delete button it directs me to a 406 Not Acceptable. I have created blocks and now I wanted to delete 2 of them, and it won't do it. Have no idea how to delete them. I have searched this on smf forums did not find any.

It should have been fixed until but I guess delete block function is missed. This could be solved by turning of the mod security module of Apache. You can do that by adding these lines to your .htaccess file, if your host permits:

Code: [Select]
<IfModule mod_security.c>
   SecFilterEngine Off

   SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

It did not solve it yet. Maybe I should wait for a day or so. By the way, the edit button works (worked without htaccess edit), the rest, block deletion and activation buttons don't.

That means your host does not permit you turning of the mod_security. You may ask them to do, as this causes some other mods not to work too. Though, I hope this will be fixed soon.

Yes. They don't let me to turn them off. Hope we will see it fixed in the next version.

Thank you and God bless you!
