Make sure the packages directory is chmoded to 777 and there is a 'temp' directory inside it that is also 777.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

You need a ../Packages/ directory which is chmoded to 777.

You need a ../Packages/temp directory which is also chmoded to 777.

Do you have them like this?

First, you should upgrade your forum to 1.1.7 as soon as possible. You can get more information about that from simplemachines.org. That may fix your current problem too.

Second, SimplePortal won't work if you have EzPortal installed.
