Permissions for Articles
« on: November 18, 2008, 12:59:37 PM »
I would like to be able to set permissions for the articles displayed within the SP article manager just like how the block permissions can be set.

Currently they get the board permissions, as we only have forum-based articles.

If a user cannot see the board that article belongs to, he cannot see the article.

This will be added with forum-independent articles feature.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Right.  The forum permissions work just fine.  I have one board that is public.  A welcome "article" there is displayed on the portal.  By having it's own permission option I could turn that off so registered members wouldn't see it.

I can do the same thing by creating a board that only guest can see and putting the welcome message in there.

The forum independent articles feature sounds nice.

Thanks,

Scott

I am going to place this here as it pertains to the topic but any mod feel free to split it if you need.  Sorry.

If possible, could you guys add permissions to be able to remove Articles. As it is now there are three permissions: "Moderate portal",  "Can add article", "Automatic article approval".  I am suggesting changing to "can add/remove article", or adding a permission to just remove articles.

Currently I have groups of moderators that can add articles to the front page but the thread/articles are very often linked to the calendar events and after they expire I personally have to remove them..

I dont want to give these groups full SP Moderator permissions as I dont want these users to alter any of my blocks.

Also, I think it would be optimal if the button that says "Add Article" on the actual thread would change to "Remove Article" after the thread is placed as an article on the front page.

Simple Portal Team, is the above possible?  I bring it up again because I am worried since I posted in this old thread my request was missed.

I've noted your suggestion and will consider for the 2.3 version.
