Topic: Moving topics from Joomla

Hi, this maybe a real newbie question but I'm looking at moving my joomla site to an SMF site and I was wondering if I could transfer my old board to SP or would I have to start all over again?

I am certain there is *SOME* way to get old content out of a JOOMLA site and then get it into an SMF site. You could dump it from the database, suck it into EXCEL, fiddle with stuff, then suck it into another database.
But I have never worked with JOOMLA, so I am not an expert.  My advice is to talk to SMF users who know about this stuff. Perhaps at the Integrations board (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=33.0) and maybe in the JOOMLA board (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=138.0).
You are not attempting a bridge, but maybe you can find the people who know the most about how the structure of JOOMLA compares with the structure of SMF, and they can help you get your question placed and stated properly.
