SimplePortal 2.1 Released!
« on: November 26, 2008, 09:22:42 AM »
The SimplePortal Team is now celebrating the long awaited release of SimplePortal 2.1!!
This latest release of SimplePortal now contains the new Forum Integration Feature, allowing you to add blocks throughout your forum. The build up to this release has been long and we would like to thank our many dedicated supporters for their patience and continued support during the development of this version. The SimplePortal Team is as excited as you are by this release, so we hope that you enjoy using it to its full potential.

Now, lets get to the really important stuff!

What's new?
 - The long-awaited forum integration feature.
 - New and exciting blocks, including Recent Image Attachments, Recent Attachments, Media Gallery, Recent Side, Calendar and RSS Feed blocks.
 - A new and improved method of adding the SimplePortal footer link (or copyright) to your forum, meaning that it should display well with most custom themes.
 - Small feature additions and tweaks, designed to make SimplePortal even easier to use, such as the ability to move blocks between different areas.
 - Many bugfixes; thank you to the Beta Testers, General Public and SimplePortal Team members for reporting these issues so that they could be resolved.

For a full list of changes refer to the 'Changelog.txt' file within the SimplePortal package itself.

Where can I download it?
 - The official SMF Mod site.
 - Our very own SimplePortal downloads page.

Upgrading from SimplePortal 2.0.x?
This is a very large jump for code and feature changes, because of this, you will have to uninstall SimplePortal 2.0.x before you install SimplePortal 2.1. None of your SimplePortal data will be lost as the uninstall process for SimplePortal 2.0.x will not remove it, and the SimplePortal 2.1 install process will update it so that you can be using SimplePortal 2.1 as quickly as possible!

Three easy steps!
1) Uninstall SimplePortal 2.0.x.
2) Download SimplePortal 2.1 from one of the download locations above.
3) Install SimplePortal 2.1, and you are ready to go!

What's in store for the future?
We aren't going to give much away at this stage, but there are gears moving in the SimplePortal Team as the developers and other team members think of new and exciting features to add to SimplePortal. With the return of [SiNaN] the SimplePortal founder (now know as Blue Dream) to the development team, we are now moving at a faster rate, to bring you the highest quality portal available!

Thank you for reading! We hope that you enjoy using SimplePortal, as much as we continue to enjoy creating and supporting it!
- The SimplePortal Team

How can I be sure I have the good package?
It is written: 'And I stood upon the sand, and I saw a beastrise up out of that sand, and upon the head of that beast was the name of God!'

Hey guys. Please do not stress yourself. U did a great portal and now with the latest 2.1 you did iven better. :)
Everybody is busy to see the new portal working so probably that's why there is not so much feedback, just a few bugs and issues, I'm shure that the minor bugs will get fixed, and everybody will be happy. But not all must be done over night.

I thank you for your great work. :applause:

Loaded 2.1 and then 2.1.1 on new installation of SMF 2.0.4...  Both give error as attached...  Pushed installation anyway (backed up first)...  Shows in packages as installed but appears nowhere...

Any suggestions...?
