Cannot use simple php poll in custom php block?
« on: October 21, 2011, 07:27:53 PM »
http://www.mr-corner.com/LittlePoll/index.html

I tried using this simple php poll in a php custom block.

Result attached.  :(

What should I do to get this poll code working on simple portal?

Thanks,
Jason

Before we get started, I feel obligated to ask:

Why not use a simpleportal sp_showPoll block, to show an ordinary SMF poll?

I want a poll by itself. I don't want it linked to a topic where only members can vote. I want guests to be able to vote, & I don't want it linked to a topic.

Just checking.  a forum-based poll would be easiest.
To create a littlepoll block, you will need to do some custom coding.

You will need to know where to follow the readme file exactly, and where to do things a little differently for the php block.
first -- have you tried setting up a littlepoll stand-alone, just like the instructions say to do?

How did that go?

Eh.. I'm a little confused here. I just tried copying over the code from the poll to the block.

What was I supposed to do?

Steps 1-4 -- should go just like the instructions say.
After that, you need to use a little common sense, a little programming knowledge, a little knowlege of php.

What error emssages did you find in your log when you tried out that block?
