They are volunteers...  or perhaps 4 days without reply is actually a reply  ;D
For custom code I would wait a couple of weeks perhaps, and  include details about what details activity should include.

My personal opinion...
Imagine the garbage that would get in an activity stream ... every single update? Profiles, message edits etc etc. There would have to be so many settings for each action and then controlling how many repeat instances? Or just a long boring stream of uninteresting activity - if it isnt filtered in some way. Then permission?  Admin activity in there? Permissions for viewing certain other activity?

Nice idea but  posts are already done in recent posts and topics mods. That would leave message edits (im always reopening 5 times before done), profile edits, shoutbox? page views?
I think only profile changes would be useful. A lot of other mods like SMF gallery would unlikely be included either.
It was something I was interested in but the more I think about it the more it seems superfluous

SMF already has this presented as the Who's Online list from a link in the Info Center.

I really appreciate the above guys for replying.  ;D

@ igirisjin - Activity stream should have some basic things, like if someone send comment to other, if someone give thanks to the post in forum, someone upload pic in profile.

@Underdog - Thats different, it tells us who is doing what.

@Divecall - Thanks for the link.

Honestly, I'd like to be able to be able to display SMF Packs' Activity Stream through simple portal as well so I can control where on a page it displays. I like how little vertical space AS takes up compared to Latest Posts or Topics. The types of activities logged are selectable and the entire thing is reminiscent of old chat rooms which has a great deal of appeal to some. Seeing who's logging in and out is not necessarily a bad thing in some communities. I'm just not crazy about it spanning the entire width of the browser.

If anyone ever sees a work around for this, please post it up!

Magnolia as the original topic is over a year old I would suggest you start a fresh topic with the necessary specs.

Failing that have you asked the author of the smf packs mod for help regarding this?

@Magnolia Outdoors:

If i remember well, there is a Block-solution from Nibogo (smfpacks.com) in the support-Board.

But...at first you need to purchase this mod, for to have access to the support-Board...

Thanks divecall & fossil. I was able to do it using some of the source html in a sp custom html block. I'll look through smf packs again when I get a change or ask nibogo in a ticket.

Sounds like a cool idea. If there was a free mod with a similar functionality I may have coded a custom block for it. But it would be better idea to ask the developers of that paid mod to provide one for you.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

the developer of the paid mod does. You just put
Code: [Select]
activity_stream('portal');In a php block.

I have it, ive heavily modified his css, but it works just fine.

I tried adding that code, and I get an "undefined function" error.

kal -- you have to make sure that the file containing the function is loaded.
So something like
Code: [Select]
require_once($sourcedir . 'filename.php');
