Problem with SimplePortal
« on: September 18, 2012, 04:04:39 PM »
I posted this same thing on the official smf forums, but it appears that my problem is related to SimplePortal.
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=486670.0

I receive a 404 error when I login using this page:
http :// www. mysmfforum .com /index.php

After I login with that page, it tries to bring me here: (this is where i get a 404)
http :// www. mysmfforum .com /action=forum

I have noticed that the link should look like this:
http :// www. mysmfforum .com /index.php?action=forum

So my question is what is causing this bug, and how can I fix it?

Update: After unchecking Disable Portal Redirection, this problem seems to have stopped. I think the problem had to do with a bad link in a file. (After further research I think it may have something to do with Subs.php)

Did that solve your problem?
It seems like a slightly strange problem.  Even with Disable Portal Redirection checked, you hsould not have had this problem.  Are you using any kind of pretty or search-engine-friendly URLs?

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?

I am using the built in search engine friendly url function of SMF. Also unchecking Disable Portal Redirection did fix my problem because the login button is no longer trying to bring me the forum, but instead the portal (homepage).

Would you be willing to turn off search engine friendly URL and try again?
