Block alignment issue
« on: March 14, 2014, 09:38:30 PM »
So, I'm running SMF 2.0.7 and SMP 2.3.5  and I have some issue with the block headers:

Is there a way to fix this without changing the theme and how would I do so?

Chocobo,

I just installed that theme for testing & it displays correctly for me.

Is this the theme you are using? ...
http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2343

If you installed the theme after Simple Portal, then perhaps try uninstalling Simple Portal & then installing it again. This process will add image files and edit that theme's display template.

Regards.

The cat/title_bar and cat/titlebg styles are broken in that theme:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=433990.msg3276510#msg3276510

Although the theme itself looks kind of fine, you'll probably have problems when custom stuff is involved.

Maybe you could ask the theme author to handle those styles correctly.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Chocobo,

I took a good look at that theme & Sinan is correct in stating you will have a hard time installing some custom mods into it. The catbg, titlebg bars & some of the content extend the full length of the templates and overlap each other. Imo it is nearly impossible to adapt Simple Portal for that theme but rather more prudent to adapt the theme for Simple Portal.

I have adapted a css template for that theme (original color only) as well as some custom edits to Simple Portal's css file. I will attach the 2 files to this post but Imo keep copies of the default files prior to overwriting in case you do not like it. This is customized now whereas the theme no longer looks exactly as it did before with the css changes. This only applies to the original color and left to right.

Place the attachments in the folder:
../Themes/Cadence_MultiColor_1-1/css

The link to the other theme from the same author that I previously posted looks very similar to that theme whereas Simple Portal works without issue. If you do not like the changes I made to this theme, you can always opt to try the other theme if you wish to use Simple Portal on your forum

Regards.

Updated

Place the css attachments into path location:
../Themes/Cadence_MultiColor_1-1/css

Place the BoardIndex template file into path location:
../Themes/Cadence_MultiColor_1-1

Changes:

  • fixed vertical text centering within title/cat bars
  • font sizes slightly enlarged
  • added category collapse on board index (different colored image than others)
  • enabled admin display toggle (was previously hidden?)
  • added opacity to collapse link images
  • fixed center vertical alignment on board index

ok Thanks.

I was also wondering too, The Forums button links to the Portal page, is there a way to change a button without breaking it all?  Because I changed the href in the Subs.php file but that broke quite a few things

Please check your theme.  Where does it get its menu buttons from?
Before the SMF 2.0 theme "Curve" came along, each theme set out its own menu buttons.

Some themes still do this.

From SMF 2.0 and forward, the buttons are created in Subs.php.
The "forums" button should not link to the Portal page.
SimplePortal has set things up so that
1) if SimplePortal is enabled, there is a "home" button pointing to index.php and a "forum" button pointing to ?action=forum
2) if SimplePortal is disabled, or in integration mode, the home button points to index.php, which turns out to be the forum index in those cases.

It would be very surprising to see "forums" pointing to the portal page under any circumstances.  Does the theme make changes to subs.php.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?
