Following an apparent upgrade from 2.3.1 to 2.3.2 today (see this separate support thread with another issue: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=5514.0), I now have extra space to the left and right of the content within most blocks.

I say most blocks, because the extra space appears within Custom HTML, Poll, Theme Selection, Recent Post/Topics, RSS Feeds, Shoutbox blocks I have on the portal page. But the Board News block type does not seem to be a problem.

Attached is a screenshot showing my problem. You can also see it in action at http://dmbo.us to see what I am describing.

The extra space is very unsightly and any advice regarding why it is there and how to fix it would be much appreciated.

I see the extra space I am describing in both Safari and Chrome.

What is your SMF version?

This looks like an issue with the core compatibility code. SimplePortal uses different template code for Core and Curve, using the incorrect one gives effects such as this (SimplePortal works out which one you should be using automatically).

Oops. Apologies. I meant to put the SMF version. I use SMF 1.1.11.

In the picture you attached, were you using the default theme or a custom theme?

It is modified version of the custom theme. At least I think it is. I cannot recall if I altered anything with the CSS since it has been some time. That said, the extra space on the left and right of some blocks was not present prior to the upgrade to 2.3.2 and it is now.

Also, it seems I may have to resolve what appears to be an only partially successful 2.3.1 to 2.3.2 upgrade. I have another thread going here that I think it is better to resolve before this one. I would feel bad if anyone ended up wasting time here only to find it was a problem with the upgrade.

I will post in this thread again once I have fixed the possible upgrade issue. And, if I do, I will first check on the CSS/theme.

Thanks!

You are using the CORE theme, but some of the HTML SimplePortal is putting out seems to be better suited to a CURVE-type theme.  For some reason, SimplePortal seems to have gotten the wrong message about which type of theme you are using.

The most likely place for this to be set is right in the template file:
Please look in index.template.php for
Code: [Select]
$settings['theme_version'] =

What version is it?

In index.template.php I have the following:

Code: [Select]
/* The version this template/theme is for.
This should probably be the version of SMF it was created for. */
$settings['theme_version'] = '1.1';
