No way back to forum..?
« on: April 24, 2011, 10:29:41 PM »
When I have simple portal installed it doesn't add a Forum tab so I can go back to the forum.. so when it's installed there is no way to look at any boards or threads... how do I fix this?
(using latest version of SP)

Using SMF 1.1.13 to add links/buttons to a custom theme you must edit your theme's index.template.php file.

File: Themes / YOUR_THEME / index.template.php

Find:
Code: [Select]
// Show the [home] button.
echo ($current_action=='home' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'home' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '">' , $txt[103] , '</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'home' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

Replace with:
Code: [Select]
// Show the [home] button.
echo ($current_action=='home' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'home' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 3 && empty($context['disable_sp']) ? $modSettings['sp_standalone_url'] : $scripturl), '">' , $txt[103] , '</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'home' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

// Show the [forum] button.
if (empty($context['disable_sp']) && in_array($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'], array(1, 3)))
echo ($current_action=='forum' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'forum' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl . ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 1 ? '?action=forum' : ''), '">', empty($txt['sp-forum']) ? 'Forum' : $txt['sp-forum'], '</a>
</td>' , $current_action=='forum' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

Your [home] button looks different because you are not using the default theme. Which theme are you using?
Please see the Documentation link above to find the link to help on customizing menu buttons for any theme:
http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=menu_buttons
Please to keep this website running, if you like SimplePortal, make a
one-time subscription. Thank you for your support.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?

You need to apply these changes:

Themes/your_theme/index.template.php

Code: (Find) [Select]
$current_action = 'home';
Code: (Replace) [Select]
global $modSettings;
$current_action = $modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 3 && empty($context['standalone']) && empty($context['disable_sp']) ? 'forum' : 'home';

Code: (Find) [Select]
'login', 'help', 'pm'
Code: (Replace) [Select]
'login', 'help', 'pm', 'forum'
Code: (Find) [Select]
'smileys', 'viewErrorLog', 'viewmembers'
Code: (Replace) [Select]
'smileys', 'viewErrorLog', 'viewmembers', 'manageportal'
Code: (Find) [Select]
$current_action = 'search';
Code: (Replace) [Select]
$current_action = 'search';
if (empty($context['disable_sp']) && (isset($_GET['board']) || isset($_GET['topic']) || in_array($context['current_action'], array('unread', 'unreadreplies', 'recent', 'stats', 'who'))) && in_array($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'], array(1, 3)))
$current_action = 'forum';

Code: (Find) [Select]
echo '<li><a href="', $scripturl, '">' , $txt[103] , '</a></li>';
Code: (Replace) [Select]
echo '<li><a href="', ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 3 && empty($context['disable_sp']) ? $modSettings['sp_standalone_url'] : $scripturl), '">' , $txt[103] , '</a></li>';

// Show the [forum] button.
if (empty($context['disable_sp']) && in_array($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'], array(1, 3)))
echo '<li><a href="', $scripturl . ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 1 ? '?action=forum' : ''), '">' , empty($txt['sp-forum']) ? 'Forum' : $txt['sp-forum'], '</a></li>';
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...
