You currently have Board News - Displays a list of posts from a selected board, but i need to display a list of topics from a selected board of my choice.

Can this be done with the current version or is this a new feature request?

I've managed to set up an annoying version of what i want using the existing Recent Posts/Topics block but that only shows posts that are posted after the block is set up so i was forced to delete the guides i had in there and re-post them just for them to show up on the block.

Surely there is a simpler way?

Update: Even doing it the long way around as i described above, the posts disappear after a few days because no one posts on them as they are designed only for information purposes, not to be commented on :(

What i really need to know i guess is what file do i need to edit to extend or remove the time limit on the blocks?

the php file that controls the Blocks is PortalBlocks.php in there you will find things like this type of function "function sp_recent"

but to try and answer;
if you were to use the block called " Recent Posts/Topics " chose the board that you would like to show from the list "Include boards: " enter how many topics to display in the "Recent Posts or Topics to Display:" box

that might be one way, and i think there are a few other way of doing something similar.

as a foot note:
i went from a SMF 1.1.11 to SMF2 RC3 with out any problems what so ever, first of all de-install all Mods, converted to RC3, then installed SP2.3.2, then installed the required Mods.

I looked at the file i'm crap at understanding the code.

I found 'function sp_recent' but don't know what governs the limit i want to remove.

Is it the following line?

Code: [Select]
$limit = !empty($parameters['limit']) ? (int) $parameters['limit'] : 5;

It isn't a time limit, per se, and changing the limit in sp_recent won't make a difference.

Here's what happens, in an active forum, when you are displaying static old posts.
* sp_recent calls ssi_recentPosts or ssi_recentTopics (depending on your choice).
* ssi_recentTopics checks for the most recent topics on your entire forum, and pulls out, from the board you specified, up to the limit you specified, all the most recent topics on that board.
* But here's the kicker: Suppose it checks the 175 most recent topics, and none of those are from your board, then you get nothing. This is the beauty of ssi_recentTopics -- it really is meant to find recent topics. On the other hand, it is not perfect for displaying old or static topics.

* Here is what you can do:
