Topic: Top Poster block causing errors

I have a stable SMF forum that has been online for several years.
I have made no changes in the past 7 days to either the forum or SP.

Today the the front page of the forum looks very unusual.
The left side blocks appear to be the full width of the page - my 'profile' block is in the centre of the page and no posts are showing.
I have traced this down through trial and error to be a SP left side block 'Top Poster'.
By disabling this block the error goes away.
If I enable the block and select all time top poster there is no problem but as soon as I select 'weekly, monthly, daily top poster' the fault comes back.
I thought this might be a user who has made the top poster list and has a bad avatar so I have changed the settings in this block to show only 1 top poster  (which is me with 10,000+ posts) and the fault is still there.

Any ideas?

SMF - 2.0 RC2
SP - 2.3.1 (yes I am going to upgrade when I sort this out)

I think it would be useful to see the HTML of the page (a link to the page would be easiest).
 
It would also be easier to help you if you came up to SP 2.3.2, which has several bugfixes compared to SP 2.3.1
