Installed - Now What?
« on: November 26, 2011, 12:59:25 AM »
I just installed 2.3.3 on the latest version of SMF and I can't seem to find any options or settings to actually use it. Can someone please help me find the features that will help me configure it?

Thanks.

Either I am impatient or not descriptive enough... Sorry either way.

I have the latest SMF 2.0.1, and just installed SimplePortal 2.3.3. In the admin section of my site (using default template that comes standard with SMF 2.0.1) I do not see anything that mentioned SimplePortal options. I checked Modification Settings and it says "There are no modifications installed that have added any settings to this area yet."

The documentation on this site has an image of an older version of SMF so I am wondering is the documentation out of date, or am I looking in the wrong area's, or is there a problem with my installation. My "Installed Packages" has SimplePortal 2.3.3 with a little green light beside it and there were no issues or warning during installation.

Please help.

There should be a SimplePortal section in Admin panel once you install the mod. If you don't see it, just uninstall the mod and try installing the 2.3.4 version instead.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Thanks for the advice. I tried that with the same results, but after looking further into it the files were not extracting properly, they were all there with 0KB file sizes.

I think this might be a problem with my host who is notoriously bad. I guess it is time to try godaddy.com unless someone has another suggestion for hosting?

I'd do a search both on sm.org and google if you think godaddy are any good.

Shane -- there are often ways around these install problems.
Are you going to keep trying?
Or are you going to wait until you switch hosts?
