Menu and login bug
« on: April 27, 2010, 11:20:00 AM »
Hello I'm new to SMF and Simple Portal. First let me tell you:
I installed SMF and when I should make a admin it says that it couldn't connect to the database. So I go to my website link and its installed done but there wasn't any users. I made one in phpmyadmin and made me admin, I don't hope it doesn't make any bugs. Okay now back to Simple Portal: My problem is that I don't have a menu like: Home, Help and all that shit how can I get that to show? That was my first question then my next is that the login at the top is totally bugged. That thing where you choose how long you want to be login are very small. I hope you can help me.

It will be much easier for SimplePortal users to offer you SimplePortal support if you can eliminate your other problems first.  And it will be easier for you, also, to solve only one problem at a time. I suggest that you do not try to install SimplePortal or any other package until you have solved your more basic problems.

You do not say if you still have an SMF install problem, or if you are just working through a theme problem.

If you have not solved the problem that kept install.php from running (you can test this by running it again), then you may have a VERY BIG problem for SMF.  Can you login as admin, use the default theme, and post a message on the forum? For help with an SMF install problem, go to the SMF install and upgrade board http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=10.0

If you did solve the database connection problem, and are ready to move onto solving your theme problem, you should ask for help on your DZiner theme at http://www.dzinerstudio.com/ . First, make sure you installed the correct version of the theme for your version of SMF.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?

You just made my day! I figured out that the theme version was wrong!

Keep up the good support!

I had no idea which target you wanted me to aim at, so I'm glad I hit something.

Good luck with SimplePortal -- keep it simple.
