Adjustment of the Articles
« on: June 17, 2010, 10:37:13 AM »
Hey there again, i have a question. We want to customize our Page to be different from all the other Pages. Therefore we want to Modify the Articel Script Shown on the Startpage.

Therefore we want to have it lokking like this:

Categoryimage -> Text.

Actually it its like on every Page:

Categoryimage
and below the text.

Is it Possible to Put the Image beside the text on the left side?

Greetings

I am a bit confused about what you mean, could do you want to alter the articles template so that the layout is like this?

Title

category image
       Text goes here

If not, then could you please post a rough image of what you want.

This should be fairly easy with some edits to the "Themes/{themename}/Portal.template.php" (the location of the articles template) and "Themes/{themename}/css/portal.css" files.

The file you want is PortalArticles.template.php. portal.css is a logical place to put any new CSS class selectors you create.

It looks like many of the regulars here are very pressed for time lately.
This includes me -- I am sorry not to be able to guide you through this at this time.

You might have some luck at simplemachines.org, on a board for custom coding or for themes.
You might find help from people who have never seen SimplePortal before, but their experience with themes means it would be easy for them to help you throw in a switch to change the CSS based on whether the article is odd or even.

Since you are new to coding and also interested in customization, I suggest that you start as soon as possible with some tutorials.  The HTML and php tutorials at w3schools.com are pretty easy to follow, I think.
Please to keep this website running, if you like SimplePortal, make a
one-time subscription. Thank you for your support.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?
