Topic: Articles Session not staying

My SMF and SP versions are in my profile on the right.

So i'm testing out SimplePortal to see if I like it right now. I'm trying out the Articles, and the problem occurs when I click on the Articles button in the nav bar at the top of the forum. When I clock it just brings me back to the home page but i've been logged out of my session.

I made sure that the Category was published, and that both test articles that I used were approved, yet it kept happening. I didn't fill in the Image URL, but I doubt that thats the problem. Articles are going to be an integral part of this site that I am trying to build, and instead of reinventing the wheel using SP's Articles system would be really speed things along.

SP is installed on a dev site that I am using, and installed on the default theme. I tried using the search but nothing came up. Sorry to bother you guys with this.

Oh, and I marked all topics as read before posting this topic and the forum thought I didn't read the two required topics even though the entire forum was read. When I marked those two as unread I was able to post again.

It seems to be acting like a button for ?action-logout.
How did you create this button? Can you show the code you used?
 
Can you be clear on how you added the "articles" button, and what URL it is linking to?

I just went into the SimplePortal ACP and enabled Articles. From there I tried adding Articles only to be told that I needed a category. I then went into Add Category and added my own (called Articles Test) and I published it on Portal.

In another tab I had my home page up so I can just refresh and see changes as I save them with SimplePortal. I tried going to the Articles tab in the nav bar, and like I said before it logged me out and went to the Home page.

I tried to fiddle around it with by unapproving articles, and unpublishing the test category but still nothing. Actually, I unenabled Articles and there is still an Articles tab in the nav bar. Thats odd. O.o

As for the code I just used whatever came with 2.3.2. I have no other mods installed and I made no other manual changes to the code. If you want me to attach a specific file then I will, but other than that I have no clue what file it is.

The url that comes up when I click "Articles" is the homepage of my dev site. The only difference is that i'm now logged out. And I just tested it out, it happens on the same tab too so being in another tab doesn't make a difference.

Can you attach a picture of what you mean by "Articles tab in the nav bar"? There should not be anything like that on the home page.

I mean nav bar as in the bar at the top of the forum, not on the home page. Where it says:

Home | Forum | Profile | Messages | Articles | Logout

SimplePortal 2.3.2 doesn't add an Articles link to your navigation bar... (although it will in the next version of SimplePortal)

Have you had SMF Articles or some other articles module installed in the past? Its possible that there is remaining code that was not removed when you uninstalled an articles mod of some sort.

.....Oh my god, I feel amazingly stupid right now. I totally forgot that I was planning to build my own Articles mod before I found the feature on SimplePortal. That failure of a nav bar button was my own creation...
