Does anyone have Google AdSense Search working for a SP page?
« on: December 23, 2011, 02:16:51 PM »
I'm trying to embed Google's search results in a SP page I created.

The page I'm directing Google to is mysite/index.php/page,search_results.html

However, whenever I perform the Google Search...I get an error that the page is not found.

Has anyone successfully implemented and embedded Google's AdSense search results in their SP page...and, if so, can you give me any direction as to how you've accomplished this?

There are mods at SMF...but, there's only one that embeds and it's not pretty.  I'd rather have it embedded in a SP page.

Keeping my fingers crossed here...

Merry Christmas to all...and thanks in advance!

Is this what you are wanting to do ? a Google search bar ? If that is what you are talking about , it worked for me ... in a regular html block and in a html page.

Code: [Select]
<!-- SiteSearch Google -->
<form method="get" action="http://www.google.com/custom" target="_top">
<table border="0" bgcolor="#cccccc">
<tr><td nowrap="nowrap" valign="top" align="left" height="32">
<a href="http://www.google.com/">
<img src="http://www.google.com/logos/Logo_25gry.gif" border="0" alt="Google" align="middle"></img></a>
</td>
<td nowrap="nowrap">
<input type="hidden" name="domains" value="gregmaxey.mvps.org"></input>
<label for="sbi" style="display: none">Enter your search terms</label>
<input type="text" name="q" size="45" maxlength="255" value="" id="sbi"></input>
<label for="sbb" style="display: none">Submit search form</label>
<input type="submit" name="sa" value="Search" id="sbb"></input>
</td></tr>
<tr>
<td>&nbsp;</td>
<td nowrap="nowrap">
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="radio" name="sitesearch" value="" id="ss0"></input>
<label for="ss0" title="Search the Web"><font size="-1" color="#000000">Web</font></label></td>
<td>
<input type="radio" name="sitesearch" value="cuylergames.com" checked id="ss1"></input>
<label for="ss1" title="Search cuylergames.com"><font size="-1" color="#000000">gregmaxey.mvps.org</font></label></td>
</tr>
</table>
<input type="hidden" name="client" value="pub-6857949530765071"></input>
<input type="hidden" name="forid" value="1"></input>
<input type="hidden" name="ie" value="ISO-8859-1"></input>
<input type="hidden" name="oe" value="ISO-8859-1"></input>
<input type="hidden" name="safe" value="active"></input>
<input type="hidden" name="cof" value="GALT:#940F04;GL:1;DIV:#E1771E;VLC:666666;AH:center;BGC:FFCC66;LBGC:E1771E;ALC:191919;LC:191919;T:333333;GFNT:663333;GIMP:663333;FORID:1"></input>
<input type="hidden" name="hl" value="en"></input>
</td></tr></table>
</form>
<!-- SiteSearch Google --></TD>
No need for Trouble finding me, for I find it perfectly on my own

The code you provided does not embed the search results in your forum...it links to an outside search results page.

Okay...

I created an HTML block and inserted the following code in the block for the Google Search box.  As you can see...this code includes the SP page I want the search results to open in.

Code: [Select]
<form action="http://glitchpc.net/index.php/page,search_results.html" id="cse-search-box">
  <div>
    <input type="hidden" name="cx" value="partner-pub-9999999999999999:9999999999" />
    <input type="hidden" name="cof" value="FORID:10" />
    <input type="hidden" name="ie" value="UTF-8" />
    <input type="text" name="q" size="25" />
    <input type="submit" name="sa" value="Search" />
  </div>

I also created the search_results page as shown in the above code box and included the following code on that page:

Code: [Select]
<div id="cse-search-results"></div>
<script type="text/javascript">
  var googleSearchIframeName = "cse-search-results";
  var googleSearchFormName = "cse-search-box";
  var googleSearchFrameWidth = 800;
  var googleSearchDomain = "www.google.com";
  var googleSearchPath = "/cse";
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/afsonline/show_afs_search.js"></script>

When I use the search box...I'm redirected to the above mentioned page with an error that "the page cannot be found"...even though I'm redirected to the SP page, itself.

What am I doing wrong?   :(

It would appear that the page does not exist.

http://glitchpc.net/index.php/index.php?page=search_results

Can you copy the URL from the list of pages?

It exists...it's just not activated.  It was activated 2 weeks ago while waiting for someone to respond to my support request, here...but, that was over two weeks ago.

Just decided to use Google's page instead of my own.  Got tired of waiting for SP support.
