Adding blocks to newly created pages?
« on: April 15, 2010, 03:45:35 PM »
So i'm semi new to SP, but wondering if this is possible.

Is it possible to add the blocks you see on index.php onto other created pages within the SP control panel?

Example: http://curb.brokenwall.net/jk3clan/smf/index.php?page=page516

That page will soon have plenty of data, but just wondering if blocks can be added to these created pages.

Absolutely!
SimplePortal gives you lots of control over where your blocks will show up.

First check your settings at
?action=manageportal;area=portalconfig;sa=blocksettings
to make sure you are allowing blocks where you want them, and hiding them where you don't want them.

Next, create a new block that you want for your new page, or edit an existing block you want to show on your new page.
Scroll down to the Display Options.
In the simple display options, you can choose to show the block everywhere, or in one of several general locations (portal, all pages, etc.).

If that's not specific enough, check the "Advanced Display Options" box.
Now, you will see several expandable lists. Under pages, for example, you will see your new page listed not by the page ID, but by the title you have given it.

Just check the boxes next to all the places you'd like to show this block, and uncheck the box next to all the places you don't want to show it.

So you can show that block on the Portal AND on the special page. Or in just one or the other.

If that answers your question, please mark this topic solved.
Thanks
