Topic: unable to use PHP in a PHP page under Edit page

I have added SimplePortal but have not been able to add in my own scripts to it, i get errors that say page not found...

I hover over SimplePortal menu and drop down shows and I select 'Pages'.

I have already added a page with PHP as the type.  But the only text I can enter in it is...


echo("hello");



for some reason I can not use the <? ?> in the page

or ?>hello<?


a lot of the pages I wish to add in will contain many snippets of PHP and HTML

How can I correctly use full PHP in the new pages ?

It should be possible to use the <? and ?> in the page.
Please supply a snippet of code for testing.

That's eval() for you. Please try this:

PHP start/end tags are not necessary when using a php block & you should use echo to display html within the php block.

To display the word hello as in your example you just do this:

echo 'hello';

or

Code: [Select]

echo "hello";

Note that if ie. you are using single quotes (apostrophe's) in order to display a single quote character within them you use a backslash.

ie.

Code: [Select]

echo 'how\'s it going?';
