Portal Page Title
« on: February 07, 2012, 09:09:43 PM »
Hi, I recently installed the SP on my site and noticed that the page title currently in my forums, does not carry over to the portal page. I edited my forum page title by going to theme/default/languages/index.engligh.php. How do I do that for the Portal page?

thanks

i hope i have understood you correctly...

in the same folder as your index.engligh.php, you should find some Portal language files...

for example : SPortal.english.php

you might find what your looking for in there
as a foot note:
i went from a SMF 1.1.11 to SMF2 RC3 with out any problems what so ever, first of all de-install all Mods, converted to RC3, then installed SP2.3.2, then installed the required Mods.

thanks...I am not headed in the right direction. The strings in the portal file are a little different than the original. Do you know which string I would need to edit? Or can I paste my code from the other file into the portal one?

sorry to say but i do not know what you are trying to edit, or what you have edited in your index.english.php

it might help if you gave us some examples, or a link to your site..!!

link is Impulse-Owners.com. Look at the page title.

At the top of the page it says Impulse-Owners - Windows Internet Explorer. So when people search google all they will see is Impulse-Owners

on the original file I changed it so that it says Impulse-Owners - The Official Smart Parts Impulse Owners Group. Again, so when people see it on google, they have a better idea of what the site actually is.

I can't be the first person that has wanted to edit a page title in Simple Portal. I can't seem to find any documentation anywhere on this topic.

I figured it out. Realized that the Portal page was looking at my Sever settings in the admin. So i just changed the name in there and it carried over.
